Basic structure in a surviving Action Tantra

The text then gives applications involving incanted substances for disease, weather, crops, childbirth, travel and protection.

Shangqing astral practice
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”To move ritually/visionarily through an astral cosmic network, integrating bodily pacing and ascent into the heavens.
General sequence
Section titled “General sequence”- Enter a quiet purified meditation space.
- Stabilize breathing.
- Establish the relevant stellar configuration mentally.
- Visualize the heavenly pathway/net above and around the body.
- Begin the prescribed pacing sequence.
- At each position, coordinate breath, visualization and sacred names/formulas.
- Visualize bodily movement as actual movement through the corresponding celestial region.
- Complete the circuit or arrive at the text’s final celestial locus.
- Rest the visualization and return awareness to the body.
- Close with the scripture’s formula where preserved.

Section titled “Learning”Study the relevant Shangqing text with a specialist in its star nomenclature and diagrams; do not reconstruct the path from modern astronomy alone.
