Core doctrine
Section titled “Core doctrine”The deceased is refined/transformed through an operation pairing external water and fire with the ritual master’s internal Kan/Li, qi and visualization.
Source-supported ritual grammar
Section titled “Source-supported ritual grammar”- Establish a funerary/salvation altar.
- Prepare the external ritual correspondences of water and fire.
- Purify the ritual master and precinct.
- Summon/invite the soul(s) of the deceased.
- Begin the gaogong’s inner refinement.
- Internally coordinate Kan and Li.
- Generate/refine Perfect Yang qi.
- Use visualization/actualization (cunxiang) to form the transformative inner operation.
- Correlate the internal process with the external water/fire apparatus.
- Direct the refined qi toward the deceased soul.
- Perform the prescribed sequence of “refinements” or transformations of the chosen Liandu system.
- Form/visualize the deceased as receiving a purified, formless spiritual body.
- Conduct petitions, talismans, incantations and statements associated with the specific Lingbao manual.
