The same ritual tradition preserves a Five-Qi body visualization.
Source-transmitted correspondences
Section titled “Source-transmitted correspondences”- Wood: green/blue qi from the liver, emerging through the left ear and becoming the Azure Dragon on the left.
- Metal: white qi from the lungs, emerging through the right ear and becoming the White Tiger on the right.
- Fire: red qi from the heart, emerging above the head and becoming the Vermilion Bird in front.
- Water: black qi from the kidneys, emerging beneath the feet and becoming the Dark Warrior behind.
- Earth: yellow qi from the spleen, emerging through the mouth and becoming the Yellow Dragon above.
Ritual purpose
Section titled “Ritual purpose”The practitioner constructs a five-directional guardian body before moving out through the gate.
How to learn/reconstruct
Section titled “How to learn/reconstruct”- Memorize organ → color → exit point → guardian.
- Sit/stand before the departure gate.
- Perform the prescribed three “heavenly drum” strikes.
- Close the eyes.
- Generate each colored qi from its organ.
- Move it through the specified body aperture.
- Stabilize the corresponding guardian in position.
- Continue into the invitation/incantation sequence.
Caution
Section titled “Caution”The exact technique for “striking the heavenly drum” must be tied to the source’s commentary; later Daoist bodily techniques should not automatically be inserted.
