Motivation and refuge; travel to or visualization of a fearful place; deity-generation; separation/transformation of consciousness from ordinary body-identification; visualization of the body as an immense offering; invitation and feeding of guests ranging from awakened beings to obstructive spirits; dissolution into emptiness; dedication.

A published FPMT Chöd manual explicitly states that its practice requires empowerment and oral transmission.
