Restriction: INITIATORY-SECRECY
Restricted person: one who has not entered the maṇḍala.
The initiation text explicitly instructs the entrant not to disclose the maṇḍala’s supreme secret to an uninitiated person and frames disclosure as degeneration of samaya.
Positive commitments in the same sequence
Section titled “Positive commitments in the same sequence”The text then imposes commitments including:
- not abandoning the Three Jewels;
- ritual use of red clothing, mala, pigment, perfume and ornaments in the relevant observance;
- red materials for ritual construction/offerings;
- moral restraints including not killing, lying or stealing.
Importance
Section titled “Importance”“Tantric taboo” therefore combines secrecy + positive ritual dress/material requirements + ordinary Buddhist ethics.
