Each directional commander leads ten thousand ghosts:

• East / green-blue qi: Liu Yuanda, harmful wind illness.
• South / red qi: Zhang Yuanbo, heat/toxic illness.
• West / white qi: Zhao Gongming, zhu-type contagious/afflictive qi.
• North / dark qi: Zhong Shiji, severe toxic disorders and abdominal gripping pain.
• Center / yellow qi: Shi Wenye, malignant sores and swelling.

Disease is modeled as a five-direction military bureaucracy.
