Later Dongyuan ritual manuals preserve a ten-direction confession: orient to a direction, perform three prostrations, confess the sponsor household’s faults, burn incense and light lamps, invoke that direction’s powers, request suppression of plague/calamily, and repeat through the ten directions. The eastern section explicitly petitions for longer life and protection of the dwelling while clearing plague and warfare spirits.
