The Kokugakuin saikai entry gives the ancient categories as:
- mourning;
- inquiries/visits concerning illness;
- eating animal meat;
- handing out capital punishment and prosecuting criminals;
- music;
- impure activities.
Consequence
Section titled “Consequence”Violations were punishable, making this more than voluntary personal piety.
