Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Light dispels the darkness of hell and participates in liberation/salvation, while also functioning in confession and communal ritual.
Practice structure
Section titled “Practice structure”- Establish the Lingbao ritual precinct.
- Perform the required purification/confession context.
- Prepare the lamps according to the specific manual.
- Light them in the prescribed sequence.
- Recite the associated scripture/incantations.
- Visualize the light penetrating darkness and the realms of suffering.
- Direct the merit toward the living, ancestors or all beings according to the rite.
- Complete the confession/salvation liturgy around the lamp rite.
- Allow lamps to conclude according to temple safety/protocol.
- Dedicate and close.
